Do you think any of what Freud wrote about is true or is it just a bunch of crazy theories? If so, what parts do you think are true and what parts do you think are completely false? Your answer should be at least one short paragraph long (5-8 sentences).
Freud had many interesting theories, but overall he was a strange scientist. He based his theories of the human kind in only a few case studies. Not to mention his practice and conception where based on individuals that had a type of mental illness. But most of the population of the humankind isn't mentally ill. There for his logic explanations fall into the false category.
ReplyDeleteI think Freud had some crazy thoughts I dont think any of it was real. I think it was all a bunch of crazy theories. All the theories aren' true because some people are adnormal but if it was true then a lot more people would be crazy or with something wrong with them. Thats why i think there is something wrong with Freud and that his theories are crazy.
ReplyDeleteI honestly think Freud have some crazy thought. I don't know when he was writing all these crazy theories what came up in his mind and he wrote them out. Yes, it's true when a child grow up. He/she is adapetd to the environment and it affects their personality. Now like he said that "we see oral personalities around us such as smokers, nail-bitters, finger-chewers and thumb suckers". Now you don't start smoking when you're a kid. So his theories really doesn't make sense. I would probably believe if I saw it with my own eyes or it happened with someone I know. There must be valid proof showing that these stages of life are true and it happens.

Freud had many interesting theories, but I do not believe any of it was real. He was a crazy scientist that only did a few practices. Meanwhile, they were all on a person that had a mental illness. Not all people are they same, therefore his studies aren't all correct. He stated that children start smoking at a young age. I think he is crazy for even thinking that. For example, children do not smoke at the age of 6. He also said that kids suck their thumbs and bite their nails. That is more accurate. A majority of what he said, I believe is all false. In order for his studies to be more accurate, he would have needed to practice a lot more and on all different people. Not only people that have a mental illness.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion Freud was a very crazy man. His thoughts were twisted and surreal. A simple example of all of his insanity were his theories. They sound very bizarre but I don't think its true. He payed mind to people with illnesses which made his theories false. He should of looked into more different types of people.

In my opinion Sigmund Freud was an intelligent man. Even though I would classify him as a physcho, he still had some valuable ideas in his theories. For example his theory on childhoods having an impact on adult personalities. I think that if a male child had witnessed his mother get beaten nomorous times by his father. He would later on in his life see this has it being a normal thing and possibly strike his wife/girlfriend. I may call him crazy but, thanks to theories he made a good contribution in psychology. I don't think if we didn't believe a little bit of his theories were somewhat true, we wouldn't even take them into consideration.

Thoughtful reply.
DeleteFreud had many theories, but I think they were all crazy. They sounded like it might be possibilities, but in the end it all just sounded like crazy nonsense.I think he just started all these theories to help those in need or just finding solutions. Also finding theories in which how children worked. In the end, I just think its a bunch of nonsense.

Frued had some crazy ideas and theories. But i think they were not true. They were false because people could be Abnormal sometimes. Some people can be that way. But most of them are normal. Not the whole world has a mentel illness. Even normal people can do crazy things.

Freud had many strange and interesting theories and I do not think any of his theories are true. Some of the things he thought about I think were crazy such as kids smoking at the age of six he must be insane for even thinking something like that. He also stated how kids suck there thumbs and bite their nails which is much more believable. Most of his theories in my opinion I think are all false. Everyone is a different person and it take others different amount of time to adapt to there environment and what goes on around them.

Freud had a lot of crazy theories. I do not agree with them because I think they are nuts. I don't think what you do at a young age means that it is set in stone that you will become a certain way. Everybody has their own choices and way of growing up. Liam Geraghty
ReplyDeleteFreud theories were a bit strange. So i obviously think they were not true. If they were actually true then he is basically saying the everyone has an illness. I just think that these theories were impossible to be called true. some people are irregular most of the times. Doesn't really mean they have a problem.Freud was just crazy and probably wanted to confuse people to make it seem as if he was right.

Freud's work and theories used to this day by therapist, and he is very intelligent. In my opinion though I think they are very strange and awkward. I think he had his theories because at the time no one had the answers for mental illnesses that he had. He based his work off of all of that too, and that could make it incorrect. He must have had impression as his studies and theories are stilled used.

I believe that a child developes its sexual identity during its 5-6 years. Also, I think that everyone experiment different things and sensations through stages in life. However, I consider Freud's theories a little crazy. I say a little because some of them actually make sense even though they are controversial. But I do not consider these theories as facts because there is not enough evidence to support them.
ReplyDeleteSome of Freud's theories are kinda out of this world. Though some of his theories i do agree with like the role of conflict. I do also kind of agree with what he says about what happpens to you as a child does affect you as an adult. Everything else though seems kinda crazy. Seems like lots of nonsense.

Some of these responses are crazy. It's okay to have an opinion but you have to back it up with some substance and facts!
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the articles I can see why some people may disagree. It's weird to think at an age so young that you could be forming your sexual identity. With that said one also needs to consider his other theories. One of his other theories was that there is a conscious mind and a unconscious mind. I think his theories are proven somewhat factual for this reason. A lot can be happening in the unconscious mind. One thing that can be done in this state of mind is exactly what others consider crazy, bizarre, and even false. When you're that age you don't know the significance of what your doing or showing. So even though some of his theories seem crazy, other theories can prove them right.

Impressive.
DeleteI think a lot of what Freud wrote could be true and false. He comes off as crazy, but makes some interesting points. For instance when says that childhood events could affect someones adulthood seems very logical. But, a lot of the illnesses he talks about, would not be considered illnesses today. I think he was an intelligent man, slightly odd, but a lot of his work has affected us today.

I think that some of the stuff Freud wrote is true and some parts are just crazy. I say this because things that happen to us as children effects us when we are older but when we are kids we dont have any sexual things going on with us we are just curious about some things and that some children do not harbor any feelings towrds their parent and if they do its because they care for them
