Summer School Day 10

1)  Newspaper Article:

  • Students will be assigned a topic to cover: Local, National, World, Health, Entertainment, Sports, and Technology.
  • Students will research interesting articles to report on.  
  • Once a student has found a story, it must be approved by the teacher before continuing.
  • The student must write two paragraphs answering the following questions:
    • Who are the important people involved?
    • What is the story and the background story?
    • When did it happen?
    • Where did it happen?
    • Why is this happening and why is it important?
  • The student must then include two pictures for review.
  • Students will then add the story into the newspaper template themselves.
  • This is due on Monday, July 22 at the end of the day.
    • Spelling and grammar count.
    • Articles should fully answer all the questions above in a compelling manner.

3) Complete your entire five-paragraph essay by the end of the day.

  • Spelling and grammar counts.
  • MLA format
  • Works Cited Page 
  • In-text citations
  • Minimum of 3 quotations in your essay

Answer the following question in a new google document titled, "Rape Explained." 
  • In a five paragraph expository essay, explain why rape occurs.  
  • Conduct some research, cite some facts and statistics, and inject your own opinions with strong real-life examples.  
  • Use the MLA format. 
  • You should have a works cited page.
  • Spelling and grammar count
  • Your paper should be a minimum of 2 full pages.
This assignment is due on Friday, 19 July by the end of the school day.
